the tillerman is an inn, restaurant and events space located just outside the vibrant town of bristol, vermont. we work on a historic property that dates back to the late 1700's. our vibe is old new england meets northern california meets a flower market meets a farmers market meets a warm vibrant community. wool, wood, leather, copper, natural fibers and rich colors are the look. palo santo, pine, and wild sage is our smell.

we’re looking for someone to join our team-oriented front of house at the tillerman. our servers play a key role in creating a welcoming, well-paced dining experience and delivering thoughtful, attentive service to our guests.

tasks & responsibilities:

  • providing warm, friendly service from greeting through farewell

  • guiding guests through the food and beverage menus and answering questions with confidence

  • taking accurate food and drink orders and entering them clearly into the POS

  • checking in with tables throughout the meal and anticipating guest needs

  • delivering food and beverages in a timely, polished manner

  • communicating clearly with the kitchen and bar to support smooth service

  • pre-bussing and resetting tables to keep the dining room clean and flowing

requirements:

  • strong work ethic and good time-management skills

  • ability to use tablets and computers quickly and efficiently

  • strong multitasking skills and ability to work efficiently while remaining friendly and patient with guests

  • positive attitude and ability to work well in a supportive, team-focused environment

  • must be able to lift 50lbs

  • must be able to work weekends

hours & compensation:

  • start date: 8/17/2026

  • 3pm- close (9:30/10:30pm)

  • pay: $7.21 (plus tips)

inn breakfast keeper

we are looking for someone to help out several mornings a week to prepare and serve breakfast to our inn guests. we offer a light breakfast from 8am to 10am consisting of fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, baked goods and boiled eggs. while there isn’t much cooking involved, we would still like someone who is very comfortable with food and has a strong attention to detail.  

once breakfast is out for guests you will then host them and tend to the morning hours by doing tasks such as starting a fire, turning on music, clearing dishes as needed, refilling milk and coffee as needed, and tidying areas as you go. it is very important that you be comfortable socially, interacting and friendly with guests. if making small talk is not for you than this position probably isn’t either : )   

this position also consists of some light inn keeping after breakfast is cleaned up and put away. after guests check out, tasks include clearing plates and garbage from rooms, pulling some laundry and starting a load, touch up cleaning in the downstairs bathrooms, and emptying trash in the common areas.

hours & compensation:

  • hours: 7-11am

  • 3 to 5 days per week: flexible (but usually always saturday and sunday)

  • pay: range between $20 - $25/hour depending on experience

  • hospitality experience preferred
