join us for our wednesday night winter music series! february 4th in the parlor, we welcome michael chorney and miriam bernardo, joined by bassist robinson morse!
bio: longtime collaborators, chorney, bernardo and morse have worked side by side in a wide range of contexts—spanning experimental music, song, theater, and improvisation. this reunion brings them back together to revisit and reimagine material connected to their shared history, alongside music that has shaped their individual artistic journeys.
the program weaves songs and compositions associated with paul bowles, sun ra, kurt weill, and lhasa de sela, tracing a lineage of artists whose work blurs borders between song and ritual, tradition and invention, intimacy and abstraction. rather than offering straightforward interpretations, the trio approaches this repertoire as living material—open to transformation through their distinctive sensibilities and decades of accumulated experience.
this performance is less a retrospective than a conversation across time: three artists reconnecting through music that has continued to resonate, evolve, and demand new ways of listening.
*we’ll be serving cocktails and snacks in the parlor, but please make a reservation for our dining room or at the bar if you would like to join us for dinner that night.
