one of our favorite things about the tillerman is all the different little areas there are to explore. meandering the grounds evokes a sense of wonder as you poke around the stone walls, cottage gardens, large boulders, old craggy trees and of course, the path to the babbling creek. it all makes you feel like a kid again, getting lost in your imagination...
each of our wedding packages include inspired, seasonal fare with elements of outdoor cooking, on-site lodging in our artfully restored late 1700’s farmhouse inn, and countless touches throughout our property that will make your day memorable and unique to you. we have four ceremony locations, and a mosaic landscape that feels expansive while still being cozy and intimate. a true vermont wedding at its finest!

the centerpiece of our venue is a 125-year-old barn surrounded by trees, flowers, and out-buildings, evoking a quintessential rustic vermont feel. if you love to live off the beaten path, be transported to a simpler time, or are inspired by texture and the elements, you might never want to leave!
our inn features 7 comfortable bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, accommodating up to 19 guests. think wood floors, wool rugs, colorful artwork, and heavenly beds in every room. our amenities focus on natural materials and comfort.
our food is impeccably sourced from local farms, producers, vendors, makers, and ranchers. we are entirely committed to quality and we keep our food simple and rustic. dining with us feels like attending a dinner party at a friend’s house who also happens to be the best cook and host you know.

micro weddings
10- 30 people
this is an intimate celebration in the restaurant or the barn. our inspired, seasonal menus reflect our commitment to local farmers and makers, with wood-fired cooking at the heart of it all!
small weddings
up to 65 people
this is a simple off-season package for a late fall, winter, or spring wedding. we create a unique dining experience where your guests eat at large tables throughout two dining rooms in our 1800’s farmhouse restaurant.

this is a summer or fall wedding with all the bells and whistles. our service style combines elements of outdoor cooking along with your choice of a large self-serve table made of beautifully displayed foods or served family-style.

frequently asked questions

there sure is! for each of our wedding packages, rental of the inn in mandatory. between the inn and the soon-to-be 3 bedroom cottage, the tillerman can sleep up to 27 guests. we can also provide recommendations for nearby lodging and shuttle services for those staying elsewhere.

for larger weddings, most couples reserve hotel blocks in either burlington or middlebury (both about 30 min away from the tillerman) and hire shuttles to bring guests to and fro. we also have recommendations for local airbnb style lodging in the bristol area.

for big & small weddings, the restaurant is closed to the public on wedding day. it remains open for microweddings.

big & small wedding contracts go until midnight with the option to extend alcohol service until midnight as well (typically stops at 10pm). microweddings contract & alcohol service go until 10pm with no option to extend.

coming to visit the tillerman in person is the absolute best way to experience all the property has to offer. we love having potential couples (and any family members) join us for a tour. be sure to come on a night the restaurant is open to have dinner afterwards- our seasonal, inventive fare is one of the most special parts about having a wedding here. submit an inquiry above to get your tour scheduled.

“as you predicted when we toured the venue, we heard multiple “best wedding food ever" comments. the space you guys have is so unique and special, and i think the ability to dance both under the tent and in the barn really pushed the experience to the next level. and you know erik and i had a soft spot for the river ceremony site from the very beginning - for me, i think that spot is still one of the most memorable parts of the whole weekend. i feel like i could go on and on about how well the tillerman showed up for us, both the physical space and natural beauty, as well as the rockstar team behind it…you guys are the best and I genuinely think some of our friends getting married this year are jealous they didn't think to use the tillerman as their wedding venue. you guys created the most memorable weekend of our lives and we are forever grateful. and we feel very fortunate that we get to come back for years to come, stay at the inn, and eat more of the onion pizza. :) ”
