PoemVillage workshop: poetry, prose & exploring the subconscious with gwen rodgerson

poemvillage is bristol’s celebration of national poetry month. in april, poemvillage transforms bristol into a literary gallery of community poetry. from january-april 2026, we offer free poetry workshops, community gatherings, and events.

presenter: gwen rodgerson

whether you identify as a writer or not, if you feel called to play with and discover your creative voice, this workshop is for you. through our time together we will break through creative blocks with exercises to tune into our personal experiences and transform them into poetry and prose, through stream of consciousness writing and guided prompts. drawing from what inspires us, and our own life experiences, we will experiment with our own unique styles and voices. we will explore our passions, and our pain points; grounding, centering, and diving into our creative wells as we write and discuss the creative process and experience.

the purpose of this workshop is to inspire and unlock the creative juices, to let go of perfectionism or self-judgement, and excavate our inner worlds in order to transmute and alchemize our thoughts, feelings, inspirations, ecstasy and yes, pain, into words. we will also explore other writers’ published works for inspiration. Sharing what you write is encouraged but never required.
